The Dr. Dan Kahler Innovative Teaching Grants Program funds enhance teaching and learning opportunities across NKC Schools. Applicants must demonstrate creative, innovative and effective ways to meet students’ needs, while increasing their motivation to learn and achieving measurable outcomes. Teaching grant awards are up to $1,000 and Site grant awards up to $3,000. All district staff may apply.

For the 2022-2023 school year, the Education Foundation awarded district staff 23 grants worth $35,000. Winners were surprised during the annual Great Grant Giveaway in April. Since 1996, staff members have received 344 grants totaling $500,000. For a list of all winners click here.

Teaching Grants
Awarded to teachers or staff members for amounts up to $1,000.
The Education Foundation Advisory Board will determine the number of grants awarded annually. All applications will be reviewed anonymously by a committee of educators, community members and Education Foundation representatives.
Extraordinary Educational Experiences
The Education Foundation purchased 22,000 pairs of special glasses so all district students and teachers could safely watch the total solar eclipse on Aug. 21, 2017.
